For the third installment in the “Chronicles of Narnia” film series, entitled “Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” we were asked to create a site promoting the new movie that long-time Narnia fans would embrace, as well as appeal to those that were new to the Narnia franchise.
If you’re not familiar with the movies, each tells the story of a magical and fantastical adventure involving knights, wizards, dragons, mythological beasts and epic battles between the forces of good and evil. They’re very much in the same vein as “Lord of Rings” and “Harry Potter.”
In “Voyage of Dawn Treader,” the plot revolves around the main characters on an ocean voyage, sailing to strange and mysterious islands in the outer reaches of the Kingdom of Narnia.
The idea was to treat these fictitious islands not just as real places, but position them as tourist destinations vacationers can visit and explore. We created a website, brought to you by “The Islands of Narnia Convention and Tourism Bureau,” that contains the same kind of content found on most vacation and travel websites, only all aspects of the site, whether it’s what to do, where to stay, where to eat or upcoming events, are given a magical and fantasy spin, consistent with the subject matter found in the Narnia movies.
